چکیده
Abstract Fracture control blasting produces rock fractures in the desired direction, which is significant for stability of excavation structures engineering. The present study proposes a new method fracture using air–water coupling. This utilizes difference explosion stress transfer between air and water, guides energy consumption fracturing on water-coupling side, i.e. zone, thus zone properly fragmented, reserved well protected from damage. Based plane strain assumption, transmission propagation with this are first theoretically analyzed. Then, coupling numerically studied utilizing LS-DYNA program. numerical model developed calibrated simulation laboratory-scale air-coupling tests. successive processes pressure attenuation, evolution under investigated. Thereafter, effects ratio decoupling performance theoretical results show that good can be obtained blasting.

Blasting neuroblastoma using optimal control of chemotherapy.
A mathematical model is used to investigate the effectiveness of the chemotherapy drug Topotecan against neuroblastoma. Optimal control theory is applied to minimize the tumor volume and the amount of drug utilized. The model incorporates a state constraint that requires the level of circulating neutrophils (white blood cells that form an integral part of the immune system) to remain above an a...
متن کاملVibration Control of Underwater Blasting Works using Artificial Neural Networks
To allow the access of larger ships (Panamax class) to the interior docks of an important harbour in Portugal, a large volume of submerged rock had to be blasted. The harbour is surrounded by a densely populated urban area and the authors of this work were hired to monitor vibrations caused by the blasts. Macro-seismometers were installed in several locations inside the harbour perimeter and in...
متن کاملNumerical Study on the Formation of Shear Fracture Network
Shear fracture network is important to the hydraulic fracturing treatment of a shale gas reservoir. In this paper, the formation of shear fracture network is investigated by a Displacement Discontinuity Method (DDM) based model. The results show that the sliding of fracture surface is irreversible but may change significantly after fluid pressure dissipates. The final sliding distance is differ...
متن کاملInfluence of fracture type and thickness of intramedullary nails on fracture healing – A numerical study
INTRODUCTION: It is common knowledge that the fracture healing process is strongly influenced by the mechanical behaviour of the bone implant complex (BIC) due to the resulting interfragmentary movement (IFM) of the bone fragments at the fracture site. Unreamed intramedullary nailing reduces the disturbance of blood supply in comparison to reamed nailing but leads to a more flexible stabilizati...
متن کاملSensitivity Analysis of Stress and Cracking in Rock Mass Blasting using Numerical Modelling
Drilling and blasting have numerous applications in the civil and mining engineering. Due to the two major components of rock masses, namely the intact rock matrix and the discontinuities, their behavior is a complicated process to be analyzed. The purpose of this work is to investigate the effects of the geomechanical and geometrical parameters of rock and discontinuities on the rock mass blas...
